Job Description and Qualification:

The Credentialing Specialist performs duties related to credentialing (physician and allied health). Provides clerical support and assistance to the Medical Staff Services office. Maintains communication and is a liaison with customer hospitals, Medical Staff Offices, and departments.

Job Description

·         Part of Legal and Compliance Department

·         Reports to Credentialing Supervisor

·         Receive and process medical staff pre-applications, applications, and re-applications 

·         Conducts and maintains primary source verifications and other credentialing data

·         Provide clerical support to medical staff department as needed

·         Provide accurate processing of medical staff pre-applications, applications and re-applications

·         Collect necessary data as part of medical staff pre-applications, applications and re-applications

·         Conduct primary source verifications


·         Must have at least 2 years of work experience in Credentialing or Medical Staff support role in the healthcare industry

·         Experience in provider credentialing (payer as alternative)

·         Strong attention to detail

·         Experience working in teams

·         Strong problem-solving and analytical skills

·         Strong written and verbal communication skills

·         Ability to perform several tasks with constant interruptions

·         Healthcare experience, medical staff experience, obtain CPCS or CPMSM certificate (or equivalent) within 2 years of hire into position

·         Preferred Computer Applications: MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Credentialing platform (Echo)

Preferred Working Hours:

·         Shift option 1: 10:00 PM – 7:00 AM  

·         Shift option 2: 6:00 AM – 3:00 PM

·         Shift option 3: 2:00 PM – 11:00 PM
