Job Description and Qualification:


• Provide responsible supervision and control for all department activities
• Establish long and short-term business plans, objectives and goals for the department
• Develop and direct department team members to perform all assigned operations functions.
• Manage profitability and growth of department through close cooperation with the sales manager and self-directed sales activities
• Review and reconcile management and financial reports for department
• Manage periodic process reviews for each client; maintain performance statistics
• Manage staff development through recruitment, coaching and training efforts
• Appraise worker productivity and performance by conducting performance reviews for all staff within department and recommend promotions or other status changes
• Direct and develop department team members to perform all assigned operations functions
• Ensure compliance with government regulations
• Ensures that the staff is properly trained and handles shipments in compliance with all applicable governmental regulations
• Develop and maintain successful relationships with local vendors (e.g., steamship line representative, airlines, freight forwarders, customs brokers, local pickup and delivery companies, regional trucking companies, line haul providers)
• Set and promote quality goals within the department and develop corrective actions for non-conformance reports
• Responsibilities include participation in the interviewing, hiring, and training of employees; planning, assigning, and directing work processes; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees, addressing complaints and resolving problems,
• Must be able to work independently and productively with minimum supervision; able to manage multiple projects.
• Recognize problems, identify possible causes and resolve routine issues


• A minimum of 5 years of experience in Freight Forwarding operations preferred
• Previous leadership experience required
• Effective communication, including writing, speaking and interpersonal communication
• Quick critical thinking and problem-solving abilities
• Excellent customer service and client relations skills
• Keep organization and time management skills
• Good collaboration and teamwork abilities
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to use computers, software and other technology for inventory and communication purposes
• Understanding of the supply chain, including common obstacles and effective solutions
