Job Summary

Variable Annuities and Fixed Products Operations Department is seeking a highly motivated and intellectually curious individual to assist in the handling of legal and contractual issues related to individual contracts, pension plans, and structured settlements. 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Review and appropriately handle legal documents, including powers-of-attorney; guardianships and conservatorships; trust instruments; probate appointments; third-party requests for information; and court orders.
  • Determine whether legal documents can be safely accepted by the company in administering annuity contracts and fixed products.  In the event of non-acceptability, draft communications to customers and their legal representatives citing the defects and how they may be cured.
  • Research U.S. state and Canadian provincial laws governing powers-of-attorney, guardianships, and conservatorships.
  • Supervise and train business staff on legal and contractual issues on an as-needed basis.
  • Correspond and speak with stakeholders, including contract owners and participants, attorneys, beneficiaries, and financial advisors.
  • Revise and improve internal workflows in the handling of legal documents.
  • Identify and resolve latent, obscure and indistinct legal issues embedded within work queues; and escalate to legal counsel and management when appropriate.
  • Serve as point-of-contact for business staff on legal and contractual issues.
  • Prepares document files for review by legal counsel; draft email memoranda summarizing underlying facts.
  • Produce training materials and job aids for business staff.  Maintain document and template library.
  • Search customer data bases for responsive products upon receipt of subpoenas, restraining orders and other escalated legal process.  Restrict responsive products and escalate to legal counsel when appropriate.
  • Identify and provide feedback to management on operational trends, including complaints.


  • Must have at least 3 years of related working experience.
  • Strong understanding of life insurance and annuity products, experience with the company’s products preferred.
  • Familiarity with U.S. legal systems including legal terminology (e.g. estates).
  • Precise writing skills, excellent oral communicator.
  • Ability to analyze fact patterns and exercise good judgment.
  • Intellectually curious and the ability to “issue spot.”
  • Must be amenable to work in Diliman, Quezon City.
  • Must be amenable to work on a Dayshift schedule.
