Job Description and Qualification:

Position Summary 

Coordinate transcription workflows as well as perform quality review and edits of transcribed reports. The Transcription Coordinator must be knowledgeable in transcription and maintain a professional attitude and demeanor. 

 

Responsibilities and Duties: 

  • Performs transcription edits, resolution of blanks and other report holds, resolves report issues to allow correct placement in the patient medical record, trouble shoots and works collaboratively to resolve system issues 
  • Performs updates in the provider database 
  • Resolution of failed faxes as directed 
  • Maintains tracking of issues for reporting purposes 
  • Monitors work flow on the shift assigned 
  • Keeps the Transcription Supervisor abreast of changes and transcription related needs and concerns 
  • Reviews transcription for accuracy and completion as defined by department procedures 
  • Completes QA review tool and reports findings to HIM Supervisor 
  • Other duties as assigned by HIM Leadership 
  • Responsible for advanced clerical functions and the review of transcribed reports completed by providers, including the quality review of documents for accuracy. 

 Qualifications: 

  • 2-3 years' experience as a Medical Transcriptionist 
  • Bachelor's Degree holder 
  • Must be willing to work nightshift 
  • Certified Medical Transcriptionist 
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, disease processes, signs and symptoms, medications, and laboratory values related to a specialty or specialties 
  • In-depth knowledge of medical transcription guidelines and practices 
  • Excellent skills in English usage, grammar, punctuation, and style 
  • Ability to use a vast array of professional reference materials, often in innovative ways 
  • Ability to educate others (one-on-one or group) 
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills 
  • Ability to operate word processing equipment, dictation and transcription equipment, and other equipment as specified, and to resolve issues as necessary 
  • Ability to understand and apply relevant legal concepts (e.g., confidentiality) 
  • Advanced knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, disease processes, signs and symptoms, medications, and laboratory values related to a specialty or specialties
