Job Description

The Merchandising Specialist maintains a continuous and evolving merchandise program through effective and efficient merchandising, sustaining a realistic but apt timetable for store distribution, and acting proactively to hasten merchandise movement; assists in data gathering and analysis, to achieve better efficiency in merchandising.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Liaise with the concerned departments on the delivery, payments and processing of all shipments
  • Secures, maintains and checks copies of all documents related to each Purchase order (Invoice, Packing List, Remittance, Advice Bank Receipt, Warehouse Receipt Discrepancy Report, etc.)
  • Periodically visits the Warehouse to check on defective products and recommends appropriate action
  • Conducts random quality control of newly arrival goods
  • Formulates orders in accordance with sales and merchandising objectives, in collaboration with the Brand Manager/General Manager
  • Recommends price changes, if necessary
  • Develops merchandise assortment plan in collaboration with the Brand Manager
  • Prepares initial allocation of stocks to different outlets based on the approved merchandise allocation of the Brand Manager/General Manager
  • Creates Inventory Pull Out Memo and coordinates with the concerned departments in effecting pull outs
  • Prepares weekly merchandising reports on sales/feedback on new merchandise
  • Prepares sales memo and price lists
  • Reviews product performance and recommends appropriate actions for effective inventory management while ensuring business profitability
  • Prepares and analyzes monthly inventory data for management review and recommends action plans
  • Ensures on-time availability of merchandise at doors and facilitates pre-delivery requirements including master file build-up, price lists, product sampling and merchandise allocation
  • Allocates and updates budget per product category based on trends, forecast, sales performances, stock movement, target market and general direction as determined by management
  • Maintains and updates purchases
  • Recommends SRP based on pricing of existing styles and competitors’ pricing
  • Conducts discussion with Operations and Sales people on product feedback to gather product feedback, monitors and evaluates the saleability of ordered merchandise through store visits (customer feedback) and analysis of sales data (actual statistics)
  • Recommends and plans merchandise discounts and markdowns, subject to approval of the Brand Manager/General Manager
  • Keeps abreast with new product lines in the market and checks competitors regularly for pricing and merchandising trends
  • Monitors timely and accurate payment to suppliers


  • Must have at least 4 years of working experience in Merchandising with a Retail Company
