Job Description

The GWAM Tech Release Management team has an immediate opening for a Release Coordinator. The primary function of the Release Coordinator is to orchestrate the delivery IT solutions through the delivery lifecycle. Release Coordinators collaborate with Project Managers/Scrum Masters, Development/QA Leads, Release Engineers and various IT solution owners to define efficient release strategies, minimize risks to on time delivery, and to ensure that releases comply with internal governance process and policies.

Responsibilities include:

  • Collaborate with project stakeholders throughout the initial planning phase of a project to define and document a release strategy that identifies project milestones, assesses automation capabilities, prescribes a release calendar, and specifies the roles and responsibilities of project contributors
  • Document repeatable cutover and rollback plans (with the assistance of other development and QA stakeholders) and ensure cutover plans are fully tested and verified in pre-production environments
  • Support the project team by monitoring projects throughout the development and test phases and proactively identifying dependencies or risks to the release strategy (or overall project)
  • Govern the transition of software into pre-production environments by orchestrating an integrated plan the ensures the readiness of a proposed release and compliance to internal quality standards
  • Administer change management guidelines and act as project advocate in meetings with IT Change Approval Board (CAB) to ensure on time and controlled delivery of a release

Qualifications/Skills Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent working experience
  • 4-6 years of relevant experience as a Release Coordinator, Software Project Manager, Scrum Master or other related fields responsible for coordinating technical teams in an agile and waterfall development environment
  • Experience working with business and collaboration tools; MS Office, SharePoint, JIRA, and Service Now
  • Working knowledge of ITIL Release and Change Management processes, software development methodologies; waterfall, agile, and SCRUM etc.
  • Advanced knowledge of software development lifecycle
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate cross-functional work teams toward task completion
  • Demonstrated effective leadership and analytical skills
  • Good interpersonal skills with an ability to build strong relationships with business and IS professionals
  • Ability to work with enthusiasm in a challenging fast paced environment
  • Very strong verbal and written communication skills with high attention to clarity and appropriate level of detail 
  • Preferably an ITIL v4 certified
  • With Change Management process experience 
  • Strong organizational, planning and time management skills  
  • Ability to lead meetings independently with varying levels of staff participating the meeting 
  • Demonstrates technical leadership and mentoring to other Release Coordinators in performing day to day operation as well as special projects.
  • Validates support team’s escalations prior to escalation to Team lead or onshore contact. He/She will serve as the officer in charge in the absence of the Team Lead.
