Role Purpose:

To direct, control and be accountable for Company’s Global shared services centre (GSSC) Operating functions (Enterprise Services) to ensure the delivery of an optimum support services function.

A.      Strategy and Planning

o    Lead Company’s Global shared services centre (GSSC) operating functions, including managing senior stakeholder relationships including GEC members and relevant non-executive director across the Group and Divisions. 

o    Serve as part of the Finance and GSSC Leadership team and own and execute the operational strategy for the Finance organisation in support of the overall strategy of the Group and the Finance’s broader objectives in achieving the Group’s strategy.

o    Provide leadership and strategic direction in the execution of the GSSC Operating Model

o    Contribute to the development and execution of GSSC strategy in order to deliver growth expectations, operating targets and maximize stakeholder value

o    Lead the development of a shared services operational platform which delivers optimal support services to all regions across multiple functional areas (incl. Finance, People Services, and Divisional Support Services)

o    Direct the ongoing development of the GSSC operating model which balances the need for excellent customer service with the need to manage direct and indirect cost

B.       Policy, Process and Procedures

o    Overall responsibility for the execution and management of the Operating functions to ensure delivery of optimal support to the business

o    Ensure that an appropriate governance framework is in place and observed

o    Provide the board and other decision making bodies with timely and relevant information on areas of responsibility, including regular reports on progress against plans and budgets and on key performance indicators

C.       Environmental Awareness/Customer Focus

o    Develop and maintain relationships with internal customers in order to provide excellent customer focus that understands and meets their needs

o    Establish trusted advisor status with relevant C-level and senior non-executive stakeholders

o    Establish appropriate channels for communication, messaging, relationship and workflows between GSSC and the Division / Group Finance team; monitor and improve channels on an ongoing basis

D.      Technical Performance

o    Accountable for the performance and results of the GSSC Operating Functions

o    Provide technical operational expertise and business acumen to the all Operating functions to strengthen and develop GSSC’s credibility both internally and in the marketplace

o    Direct Operating functions to ensure that management structures and processes are in place to which reflects market leading best practice

E.       People Management

o    Direct, organize, develop and manage the Operating functions  to ensure that people, resources and processes are aligned with business needs and are fit for purpose

o    Establish clear accountabilities and authority levels for direct reports and build a strong culture of accountability and performance in order to ensure delivery of business goals

A.      Experience

o    Significant years experience within an appropriate professional or business discipline, preferably in a shared services or BPO environment

o    Substantial experience of creating world class operating functions in a regulated financial services business

o    Significant experience of leading multi-disciplined operations/technology teams

o    Significant experience of leading large teams

o    Demonstrated leadership in growing a global Finance function or capability

B.       Skills

o    Strong interpersonal and communication skills to build relationships and trust at all levels with internal customers

o    Strong negotiation skills

o    Ability to lead and manage a team

C.       Knowledge

o    Strong commercial acumen and understanding of the Insurance Industry

o    Knowledge and understanding of operating functions (incl. Finance, People Services, and Divisional Support Services). Understanding of management of complex service business at board level
