Job Description and Qualification:

Job Summary:

The Tax Accountant I will manage the timely processing of employee payroll taxes, garnishments and appropriate Government filings for US tax purposes. This position will coordinate with the Payroll and Tax Departments to calculate Shadow Payroll Tax processing. This coordination will include working with the Payroll Tax Specialist, and will perform duties of the Payroll Tax Specialist in his or her absence. This position will reconcile all payroll tax accounts and perform reconciliation of other related tax accounts. You may be assigned other duties to help proactively drive our FieldCore vision and align with our organization’s core values.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Resolve payroll tax discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information
  • Validate and transmit garnishment and levy payments/files to 3rd party vendors
  • Respond to internal and external inquiries relative to the payroll related tax matters at the Federal and State Level, as well as, coordinating State Tax Corporate Filings with the GE SALT Group
  • Serve as the responsible party for all Local tax matters for US states as well as foreign entities as needed
  • Liaise between State and Federal Agencies and the company
  • Maintain a high level of confidentiality in regard to employee pay and tax records
  • Complete audit reports for monthly, quarterly and annual periods
  • Meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment with little supervision
  • Reconcile weekly, monthly and quarterly payroll taxes to the general ledger
  • Process shadow payroll for all expats working aboard. This includes US outbound and foreign nationals
  • Develop and control payroll tax tasks that involve vendor implementations
  • Direct contact with external providers including payroll vendors and accounting firms
  • Prepare reconciliations Ceridian to GL, as well as, other vendor information to the GL from the shadow payroll side
  • Prepare tax adjustments, W2 corrections and coordinate with the foreign locations to prepare the necessary year end filings as required
  • Use the ART tool for reconciliation of tax and shadow tax accounts as necessary
  • Work with Operations to provide detailed projects of the cost of shadow taxes in various countries, as well as, evaluate the use of tax equalization as necessary
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Travel may be required
  • English proficiency required

Required Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required
  • 3+ years Tax or Accounting experience and demonstrated success/knowledge

Desired Characteristics:

  • Highly proficient in Outlook, Excel, Word, Tax and Accounting Software
  • Ability to work in a global organization with cross-functional teams, multi-task, trouble shoot problems and effectively interact with leaders of the organization
